As you likely have seen, state and county health departments have asked all places of worship in Humboldt County to move to outside or online services because of entering the purple tier rating due to rising cases of COVID-19 in our community. The elders met earlier this week to discuss how to respond to this going forward.
We believe that the wisest course of action is to move toward recorded online services like we did when the pandemic first began. Therefore we are canceling our in-person Sunday gatherings beginning this-coming Sunday, December 6th until we move out of the purple tier. Our heart’s desire is to resume our regular in-person Sunday gatherings as soon as we move out of the purple tier.
We understand that this pandemic has been very challenging on so many levels, and we want you to know that these decisions have not come easy for us. However, we believe that in view of what the Scriptures call us to in Romans 13, out of honor to our city and county, and love for our neighbors that at this time we should follow the guidelines the civil authorities have called for.
We recognize that as individuals, families, and even among churches there are diverse opinions on the best way to handle this pandemic and its continuing impact on our lives. What we are asking for is this: that whether you wholeheartedly agree—or even disagree with this decision—we want you to know that we love you and we ask you to pray for us as we continue to navigate these ever-changing developments. Our desire is that all of us who belong to Redwood Christian Fellowship might love people well and glorify our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.
